Admissions Information

Admissions Policy

The admissions limit for Lealholm Primary School as agreed with the authority is  8.

  1. The LA send ‘A Guide for Parents’ and Common Application Forms to the parents of all prospective pupils in the year prior to their child starting school, in which they must express a preference for a school  place.

  2. We encourage all children to start school in the September before their fifth birthday. However if your child’s fifth birthday falls between 1st March and 31st August they have the option of starting school at the beginning of the spring (January) term. Children are not obliged to start school until the term after their fifth birthday, if parents so wish.

  3. In the half term prior to Admission new starters will be invited to spend time in school.  We fully encourage children to be full time from their first  day.

  4. Information and booklets about starting school will be sent to parents in the term before admission. An informal meeting for parents of new starters will also be held to share information and discuss any questions or concerns parents may have.

  5. Parents will be requested to complete a school Admission Form for their child giving basic information i.e. emergency contact numbers, health details, etc.,  when the child starts school. Parents are also asked to inform the class teacher or Headteacher when personal circumstances occur which are likely to affect the child’s behaviour in school.

All information is treated in the strictest confidence.
